President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s future depends on unity, discipline and sustained economic reforms, insisting he will not back down despite growing pressure over rising living costs.

Speaking at the State House in Abuja, the President told members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors that his administration is focused on rebuilding the economy and expanding opportunities for Nigerians, particularly the poor and vulnerable.
“There is no path to national greatness except building one country with a shared vision for progress and prosperity,” Tinubu said, in remarks that have drawn wide reaction across the political space.

While the government maintains that the reforms are necessary to correct long-standing structural weaknesses, opposition figures have sharply criticised their impact. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has repeatedly called for alternative measures to cushion the effects on ordinary Nigerians, while Labour Party leader Peter Obi has urged the government to prioritise production and targeted social support.

Despite the criticism, Tinubu insisted the reforms are unavoidable and essential for sustainable growth. “I will not run away from this task. I will not give up,” he said, signalling his determination to stay the course.
The President also dismissed attempts by critics to pressure his administration, framing leadership as a responsibility that requires difficult decisions. “They cannot scare me off. There is no better place than our country, and no one will build it for us except ourselves,” he added.
He emphasised the importance of democratic values, including respect for the judiciary and adherence to the rule of law, warning that national stability depends on strong institutions and shared responsibility.
“We must respect the judiciary whether it favours us or not and remain faithful to the principles that hold our nation together,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu also called for stronger grassroots engagement, urging his supporters to communicate government policies more effectively and mobilise citizens around a shared national vision. He described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as key to bridging the gap between policy decisions and public understanding.
