Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State on Tuesday voiced his confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to ensure a successful governorship primary and a subsequent victory in the 2026 state election.
The governor made the remarks after appearing before the party’s screening committee in Abuja.
Oyebanji was the first of four aspirants to be screened for the party’s ticket, a process he described as fair and transparent.

The screening, which took place at the Amor Hotel, lasted about 15 minutes. Afterwards, the governor commended the APC leadership for establishing a process that would “save the party from a lot of problems.”
He expressed his belief that the committee would produce a credible result.
“This is only the screening stage. Next comes the appeal committee, the Congress committee, and then the election proper. Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants, it is about returning our party to power and serving the people,” Oyebanji stated.
The governor also called on the APC national leadership to provide a level playing field for all aspirants who have successfully passed the screening.
The screening committee, led by Tunji Olawuyi, has been tasked with screening four aspirants over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, ahead of the primary election scheduled for October 27.
