Former lawmaker Bimbo Daramola has declared that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji remains unperturbed by fellow All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant Kayode Ojo ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for October 27, 2025.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Daramola dismissed rumours that Oyebanji barred cabinet members and local government chairmen from engaging with Ojo and other aspirants, describing the governor as a committed democrat.
Daramola, who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, refuted claims of discord within the APC, asserting that Oyebanji is poised to secure the party’s nomination without any crisis.

“Oyebanji is not jittery about anybody, he’s not anxious about everybody,” he stated, specifically addressing Ojo’s candidacy.
While expressing personal respect for Ojo, whom he described as a friend, Daramola questioned what unique contributions Ojo could offer Ekiti’s people, emphasising Oyebanji’s proven leadership.
On the method of the primary election, Daramola noted that Oyebanji possesses the capability to defeat all contenders, whether the APC opts for a direct or indirect primary.
He also defended the governor’s recent visit to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, accompanied by a large entourage of stakeholders to submit his nomination form.
“Oyebanji is not a lone ranger but a sitting governor loved by all,” Daramola said, dismissing critics who questioned the move.
Daramola further highlighted Oyebanji’s strong standing, stating, “A man who has said bring the primary on is afraid? No!” He underscored the governor’s widespread recognition and influence, contrasting it with lesser-known contenders.

“When you throw my name into the highest pool in this country, a number of people will say, ‘We recognize this name,’” he added, reflecting on his own and Oyebanji’s established reputations.
The party’s unity and the governor’s popularity, he argued, will ensure a smooth path to victory in the primary and beyond in 2027.
