Popular Nigerian content creator and influencer, Emmanuel Obruste, widely known as GehGeh, has addressed allegations of neglect made by his younger sister, stating that he is doing his best within his financial limits.
The controversy began after his sister publicly accused him of abandoning family members despite his perceived wealth. She also alleged that she was turned away from his housewarming ceremony, sparking widespread criticism on social media, where many users questioned the influencer’s responsibilities towards his family.
Responding in a video shared on his Instagram page, GehGeh rejected claims of neglect, explaining that his financial capacity does not extend to lifting his entire family out of poverty.
“I never get the kind of money wey fit raise family from poverty. I can only do my best and not my all,” he said.

The influencer went on to outline his previous support for family members, noting that he had provided assistance where possible, including purchasing the mobile phone currently used by his sister. However, he maintained that his siblings must take responsibility for their own lives rather than rely entirely on him.
He stressed that he is the first person in his family to achieve financial success, describing the pressure of being expected to transform the fortunes of multiple relatives at once.
“I will give my best, not my all,” he reiterated, adding that financial discipline and restraint were key factors in his rise.
GehGeh also defended his approach by pointing to broader examples within the entertainment industry, arguing that even established celebrities take time before extending significant financial support to family members.
He further advised his siblings to seek employment and become self-reliant, emphasising that he has his own immediate family to care for, including his children.
The situation has continued to generate debate online, highlighting ongoing conversations around family expectations, financial responsibility, and the pressures faced by individuals who achieve sudden success.
