Ambassadors Reno Omokri and Femi Fani-Kayode have urged Nigerians to line up behind President Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring that the President remains their candidate for the next electoral cycle.
The duo made their position known in a joint statement released on Saturday, where they asked political leaders to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
“Our Candidate For 2027 is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” they declared.

Explaining their position, Omokri and Fani-Kayode noted that their endorsement is based on the need to protect political stability, national unity and the existing power-sharing arrangement in Nigeria.
Since the return to democratic rule in 1999, they claimed, the country has maintained an informal understanding that presidential power should rotate between the North and the South to ensure balance and inclusion.
They noted that Northern Nigeria had completed its turn under former President Muhammadu Buhari, who served two full terms, and argued that the South should be allowed to complete the same tenure under Tinubu.
“And that, after that tenure, it is the turn of Southern Nigeria to take and retain the baton of power for a commensurate period of time, to wit, two terms of four years each,” they said.
The two of them said any attempt to move presidential power back to the North after only one term in Southern Nigeria would work against national balance and political harmony.
They also cited economic gains and major infrastructure projects under Tinubu’s administration as reasons for their support.
Among the projects mentioned were the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the Trans-Saharan Road.
In a direct appeal to Nigerians and political stakeholders, they said:
“Finally, we call on all Nigerians, irrespective of region, religion, and communion, to join us and queue behind the present Presidency and future candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
They added, “To re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a task that must be done.”
