The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence that its ongoing nationwide digital membership registration exercise will exceed 9 million registered members within the first two weeks.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced the ambitious target during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.
National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda conveyed optimism about the rapid progress of the e-registration initiative, which began earlier this month to modernise the party’s membership database and enhance operational efficiency.
National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, who addressed journalists on behalf of the chairman, revealed that more than 2 million Nigerians had already successfully completed their registration and verification in just the first week.
He described the early turnout as highly encouraging, reflecting growing interest in the ruling party.
“We are happy to inform Nigerians that just a week into the exercise, those who have registered as members of the APC are already over 2 million,” Basiru stated.

“We envisage that by the time we make another assessment next week, we should have 8-9 million registered members.”
The digital registration drive, which allows both existing members to revalidate and new supporters to join, aims to create a credible, transparent, and up-to-date central database.
Basiru emphasised the importance of accurate data for improving the party’s planning, coordination, and internal democracy ahead of future electoral engagements.
To ensure robust participation across the country, the NWC has warned that underperforming states risk leadership changes.

“Any state that is found lagging, the National Working Committee has been given the latitude to change the coordinator of such state,” Basiru added.
The exercise forms part of broader reforms to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structures and inclusivity. Party officials have urged all eligible Nigerians aged 18 and above, particularly those with a valid National Identification Number, to take advantage of the platform while it continues.
