The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a response to Senator Salihu Lukman’s recent assertion that the party lacks the capacity to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State due to its current operational structure.
The statement, which has sparked political discourse, prompted a swift rebuttal from the ADC, dismissing concerns and reaffirming its presence in the state’s political landscape.
In a statement released on Saturday, 4 October 2025, the ADC addressed Sen. Lukman’s remarks with a tone of confidence and nonchalance.
“Don’t worry, there’s nothing to panic about, but we are happy you are aware that a party called ADC exists in Kaduna State,” the party said.
The ADC further asserted its parity with other political parties, urging detractors not to fear its growing influence. “We are just like every other party, don’t fear!” the statement added.
Sen. Lukman, a vocal political figure, had earlier expressed doubts about the ADC’s ability to mount a formidable challenge against the APC in Kaduna, citing organisational weaknesses.
His comments reflect ongoing debates about opposition parties’ readiness to compete with the APC’s dominance in the state ahead of future elections.
The ADC’s response underscores its determination to establish itself as a credible alternative in Kaduna’s political arena.
While the party did not outline specific strategies to counter Lukman’s critique, its statement suggests a focus on building visibility and reassuring supporters of its resilience.
