The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba Ahmed, has revealed that a growing number of politicians are expressing interest in joining the party ahead of upcoming elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Baba-Ahmed described the development as both surprising and encouraging, noting that the party has witnessed a sharp increase in enquiries and approaches from prospective members in recent weeks.
“In the last three or four weeks, you would be amazed at how many people have reached out to us and said, ‘We’re coming over to your party,’” he said.
According to the PRP chairman, the party remains open to welcoming new members, regardless of their political background or circumstances. He suggested that some of those seeking to join may feel marginalised or constrained within their current political platforms.
“Our doors are open to anybody who wants to come in, either on their own or because the system has blocked and virtually destroyed their party,” he stated.

Baba-Ahmed further emphasised that the PRP is positioning itself to play a more significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming months. He described the surge in interest as a reflection of growing confidence in the party’s ideals and direction.
“We see our role in the next few months as far, far greater than anything we have done before,” he added.
Highlighting the party’s heritage, Baba-Ahmed noted that the PRP is one of the oldest political organisations in the country, with a legacy spanning approximately 70 years. He stressed that its enduring principles continue to attract individuals seeking a credible alternative.
“They are not just coming as political refugees. They are coming because we are a party of principles,” he explained.
While acknowledging that time constraints could pose challenges in building momentum ahead of future elections, Baba Ahmed expressed optimism that the party would overcome such hurdles.
He also disclosed that the PRP has begun engaging with interested individuals, outlining a structured process for membership. According to him, prospective entrants are required to formally join the party before any detailed political discussions can take place.
Baba-Ahmed concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerians are increasingly seeking meaningful change, suggesting that the PRP could serve as a platform for a new political direction.
