The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for what it described as deliberate misinformation in his statewide broadcast on the administration of local government councils.
In a press statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi on Tuesday, the APC accused the governor of spreading falsehoods to confuse the public.
The statement responded to Adeleke’s address titled “The Illegal Occupation of Local Government Secretariats and the Defence of Democratic Order in Osun State,” where he alleged that the Federal Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, were behind the withholding of federal allocations to local governments since February 2025.

The APC rejected these claims, asserting that reinstated APC chairmen and councillors are not illegally occupying council secretariats.
It pointed to the Court of Appeal judgment of February 10, 2025, which reinstated the officials, noting no appeal has been filed against it, making the ruling binding.
The party accused Adeleke of sacking the elected APC officials upon assuming office without allowing due judicial process.
It clarified that ongoing litigation at the Federal High Court in Osogbo seeks to determine the three-year tenure of the reinstated executives and the legality of conducting fresh elections during their subsisting term not an elongation of tenure as alleged.
The APC highlighted multiple lawsuits filed by the Adeleke administration and allies to block payments to the reinstated councils, including suits against a commercial bank, causing hardship at the grassroots.

It emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government autonomy grants full independence to councils, rendering the governor a “meddlesome interloper” without locus standi.
The statement also condemned Adeleke for blaming former Governor Oyetola for his administration’s challenges and referenced the killing of reinstated Irewole LG Chairman Hon. Remi Abass by alleged PDP thugs following an inciting address by the governor.
The APC urged Adeleke to withdraw “frivolous” court cases frustrating allocations, now domiciled in council banks per the Supreme Court directive, to allow optimal performance by the reinstated executives.
