The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly denied allegations that it is compelling civil servants to participate in its ongoing nationwide e-registration exercise.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka dismissed the claims as baseless and “almost unimaginable” during an interview on Arise Television yesterday.

Morka emphasised that the APC is currently focused on managing high levels of enthusiasm among existing members and willing new registrants.
He noted that the party is already struggling to process registrations due to overwhelming demand and occasional technical challenges, such as network downtime and congestion.
“With every system, people have a tendency to make all kinds of allegations. It’s easy to allege, but to substantiate, I think it’s the challenging part,” he said.
He added: “The existing members of the party are all crowded, struggling to register because the enthusiasm is high… But the idea that civil servants or anybody is being compelled to register, that’s a bit almost unimaginable at this point.
“Who has that time to go compelling people who don’t want to register, or who are civil servants, or who are not disposed to registering, to actually register? To me, it’s actually ridiculous to suggest.”

Morka highlighted that the party has no incentive or resources to pursue unwilling individuals, particularly amid efforts to digitise its membership records for greater integrity and efficiency.
He acknowledged challenges in areas with poor network connectivity and explained that the APC is deploying alternative technologies, including offline device systems, to enable supervisors and agents to register people temporarily before uploading data to the platform.
The e-registration drive, aimed at modernising the party’s membership database, has seen significant participation across wards nationwide, though it has sparked debate and accusations from critics.
The APC maintains that participation remains entirely voluntary.
