Nigerian singer Harrison Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has revealed that his long-standing rift with his former record label boss, Kcee, negatively affected his music career, particularly his creativity.
Harrysong parted ways with Kcee’s 5ive Star Music in 2017 after publicly accusing the label of withholding royalties, subjecting him to unfair treatment, and placing restrictions on his creative freedom.

He also claimed to have written several hit songs for Kcee during his time at the label, allegations that triggered a series of responses from Kcee and further escalated the feud.
Speaking in a recent interview on Jusmen 105.7 FM, the Delta-born singer admitted that the ongoing dispute often distracted him from focusing on his craft.
“The beef with Kcee used to distract me, it used to affect the music. Because most of the time, instead of recording, I would be thinking of how to reply Kcee and continue to fight. So, it distracted me. It affected my creativity,” Harrysong said.
The singer, however, disclosed that the dispute has now been resolved, adding that he has moved on from the controversy.
According to him, he has also developed a “thick skin” over the years, allowing him to better handle public criticism and controversies without letting them interfere with his music.
Harrysong’s comments have reignited conversations about the impact of label-artist conflicts on creativity and career growth within Nigeria’s music industry.
