The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warmly commended President Bola Tinubu for approving a fresh batch of ambassadorial nominees, describing the decision as a pivotal moment that marks the beginning of a bold and strategic era in Nigeria’s foreign policy.
In a statement released yesterday the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the appointments were praised as a decisive break from what he characterised as “years of diplomatic inertia” under previous administrations.

The new envoys, according to Oladejo, represent a carefully curated blend of expertise, patriotism, and diplomatic acumen, signalling Tinubu’s determination to restore Nigeria’s stature as a confident and proactive global actor.
“The world will no longer encounter a hesitant or merely reactive Nigeria,” the statement declared.
“They will meet a nation ready to assert itself with dignity, clarity, and strategic purpose.”
The Lagos APC linked the ambassadorial appointments to the president’s broader domestic reforms in security, economic management, and governance, arguing that these internal improvements provide the solid foundation required for a more coherent and effective foreign policy.

With stronger footing at home, Nigeria is now better positioned, the party said, to reclaim influence within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union, and beyond.
Among the priority tasks outlined for the new ambassadors are advancing counter-terrorism cooperation, intensifying economic diplomacy, promoting energy transition frameworks that safeguard Nigeria’s interests, and strengthening support systems for the Nigerian diaspora.
Oladejo criticised past administrations for what he termed inconsistency and lack of vision that had undermined Nigeria’s international standing.
In contrast, he asserted that the current leadership fully understands the country’s global obligations and is projecting a unified foreign policy message.
Expressing full confidence in the calibre of the nominees, the Lagos APC predicted that they would secure significant political, economic, and strategic advantages for Nigeria while elevating its profile in diplomatic circles worldwide.
“The era of timid foreign policy is over. Nigeria is rising again deliberately, confidently, and irreversibly.” he concluded.
