The National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally ratified the expulsion of Hon Leke Abejide, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, following a decision by the party’s Kogi State Executive Committee.
The ratification was announced on Thursday at the conclusion of the NWC meeting held at the ADC National Headquarters in Abuja.
The national leadership cited “various acts of indiscipline” as the grounds for Abejide’s removal, stressing that the party would not condone behaviour that undermines its principles.
In an official statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC reaffirmed its commitment to building an organisation rooted in discipline, character, and integrity.
“The ADC will continue to enforce strict adherence to party rules and regulations by all members, irrespective of status or position,” the statement declared.
Hon Leke Abejide, a prominent figure in Kogi West politics and the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the ADC in the state, had faced mounting internal criticism over alleged anti-party activities and disregard for directives from the state chapter.
In addition to ratifying the expulsion, the NWC directed the Kogi State leadership to immediately commence the process of filling all vacant positions across wards, local government areas, and the state executive.
The exercise is to be conducted strictly in line with the party’s approved transition guidelines ahead of forthcoming congresses, the timeline for which will be announced shortly.
