The Rivers State Police Command has called for public calm after a viral video alleging an attack by Fulani herdsmen in the State was confirmed to be completely false and misleading.
The Command in a statement issued on Wednesday said the video, which claimed that Ijaw youths repelled an attack by suspected herdsmen, was a fabricated narrative circulated by mischief makers intent on inciting panic and disrupting the prevailing peace in Rivers State.
It emphasised that no such incident had been reported in any part of the State, warning residents against sharing unverified information capable of generating unnecessary tension or damaging the State’s reputation.
The Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, urged the public to stay vigilant, remain calm, and verify information from official sources before circulating it online.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparent and accountable policing, the Command under Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju said it continues to work closely with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.
