Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Monday declared that his administration’s deliberate investments in the education sector are already yielding positive results and pledged to sustain the ongoing renovation of school infrastructure.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly appointed members of the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) in Akure, Aiyedatiwa described education as the most critical pillar for human progress and development.
He emphasised that the event marked a key milestone in strengthening the state’s educational foundation.

The governor stated that since the beginning of his administration, repositioning the education sector has been a “living promise” to the state’s children and youth.
Aiyedatiwa charged the new TESCOM board members—whose appointments were based on integrity, competence, and service—to discharge their duties with humility, fairness, and commitment.
He described TESCOM as “the heart of our public education system” whose decisions shape the welfare, discipline, and professional growth of teachers.
He highlighted key achievements already recorded, including the recruitment of a new generation of teachers, improved school infrastructure, and enhanced monitoring mechanisms, which he said have brought “renewed energy” to classrooms.
The governor, who noted he was once a teacher, also stressed the need for continuous training and capacity development to ensure teachers can effectively navigate a rapidly changing world.
He urged the board to work closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure every teacher feels “supported, motivated and proud to serve.”
However, Taiwo Fasoranti, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), commended the governor’s focus on education, noting that the state continues to maintain a national reputation for excellence.
Fasoranti cited a recent national recognition where two teachers from the state—one from a junior secondary school and another from a private institution—received the “best award” in the country, confirming the high standard achieved by the state.

Responding on behalf of the new board, the TESCOM Chairman, Oluwadaisi Oke, thanked the governor for the trust reposed in her team and assured him that they would work diligently to justify the confidence placed in their experience, discipline, and education.
Dignitaries present at the inauguration included the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami; Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa; former governor, Ali Olanusi; and APC chieftain, Olusola Oke, among others.
