A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election under the platform of the APC.
Omisore made the announcement in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, stating that a formal declaration event will be held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at the Osun APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, by 10:00 a.m.
Themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” the campaign aims to rally support for what Omisore has called the Osun Rescue Mission 2026.
“My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he wrote.
Omisore stated that his campaign will centre on restoring hope, strengthening governance, and delivering a brighter future for the people of Osun State.
“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he added.
Senator Omisore, who was the PDP’s candidate in the 2014 Osun governorship election before later joining the APC, is expected to be one of the leading contenders for the APC governorship ticket.
The official declaration event is anticipated to draw key party stakeholders, supporters, and political observers ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive race.
