Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has resumed his duties at the Government House in Port Harcourt, following the end of the six-month state of emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu.
The governor, who arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at 11:40 a.m. with his wife, Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, and Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, was greeted by a large crowd of supporters, former commissioners, and local government chairmen.

Upon his return to the Government House, the governor thanked the people for their support and loyalty, expressing his humility at the massive reception.
He described the turnout as a “reactivation of the bond” between his administration and the people of Rivers State.
“I know everybody wants to hear something from me,” Fubara said, “and I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to give those things that made you people love us.”
He also promised to deliver a statewide address at 6 p.m. to discuss his plans and officially mark his return to power.

This development comes after a period of political uncertainty and a state of emergency that had placed the state under a sole administrator, retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
The House of Assembly had also resumed sittings the previous day, though the governor was not present.
