Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to indigenes and residents of the state to take full advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
In a statement released on Monday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the exercise as a vital civic responsibility that should not be taken lightly.
He stressed the importance of voter registration, particularly for those who have recently attained voting age, urging all eligible citizens to ensure their names are properly captured in the voters’ register.
Looking ahead to the 2026 governorship election, which he described as pivotal to the sustenance of good governance in Osun, the Governor advised those who had lost or misplaced their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to obtain replacements.
“We all must exercise our voting rights to sustain a listening and responsive administration in the state,” Adeleke said.
“I call on Osun residents living outside the state to transfer their voter cards back home and ensure mass participation in the election. Our voting card is our weapon to prove that good governance is a possibility, as Osun has experienced over the past two and a half years.”

He further encouraged citizens not only to update their registration details but also to turn out to vote and safeguard their ballots when the time comes.
“We must be ready to stop electoral robbers should they attempt to subvert the people’s will,” he added.
Governor Adeleke also directed state officials and community leaders across local government areas to mobilise residents for the exercise. He expressed confidence that INEC would conduct the registration process seamlessly in the interest of the electorate.
INEC has announced that the CVR exercise commences nationwide today. According to the electoral body, online registration begins on Monday, 18 August 2025, while physical registration at INEC local government offices will commence on Monday, 25 August 2025.
Governor Adeleke urges Osun residents to join INEC’s voter registration, stressing mass participation ahead of the pivotal 2026 governorship election.
