Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about her failed marriage to actor Adeniyi Johnson, shedding light on the reasons behind their divorce.

Ignored family warnings
Abraham was married to Johnson for about two years. Looking back, she admitted that her family had strong reservations about the union from the beginning. They even sought spiritual guidance and were warned that the marriage might not work. However, the actress chose to ignore the signs and went ahead with the marriage.
“My family actually prayed about it, and God showed them it was not the right path,” she said. “But I was stubborn. I didn’t listen. I followed my own heart.”
A new chapter with Kolawole Ajeyemi
Years later, Toyin found love again, this time with a colleague and close friend, Kolawole Ajeyemi. Unlike her first marriage, her relationship with Ajeyemi began slowly and was rooted in friendship and mutual respect. She described him as a calm and deeply spiritual man who supports her both emotionally and spiritually.
“In real life, he is very calm. He is a prayer warrior,” she said. “Whenever I go to Abeokuta, he’s always there. That’s how we started getting close, and then we began dating.”
Toyin noted that she tried to keep the relationship private at first. But as her feelings deepened, she no longer felt the need to hide. Eventually, they met each other’s families and had a modest introduction ceremony. Soon after, she became pregnant, and the couple tied the knot.

The actress emphasised that their union was not just based on love but also on faith. Coming from a strong Christian background, she said her family prayed about her relationship with Ajeyemi—and this time, the response was different.
“My family prayed again, and this time, God revealed he was my husband,” she said. “Now we are blessed with two beautiful children—a boy and a girl.”
She described her husband as one of the best partners anyone could ask for. While she humbly noted that there are other marriages she admires, including that of her godmother, she expressed deep satisfaction with her own.
“Trust me, I married one of the best. I won’t say the best, because I look up to some marriages, but my husband is among the best.”
