The Lagos State Government has welcomed fresh efforts by the GIZ SKYE (Skills Development for Youth Employment) project to deepen collaboration aimed at equipping young people with relevant skills and expanding employment opportunities.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, received a delegation from GIZ SKYE on a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s conference room in Alausa.
The Commissioner was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Wasiu Olayinka.

The visiting team, led by Djokic Svjetlana, Component Manager for Employment Promotion, reiterated the organisation’s commitment to working more closely with the state to advance youth development goals.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary commended GIZ SKYE for its sustained support, emphasising the importance of aligning development initiatives with the THEMES Plus agenda of the current administration.
He noted that the ministry is committed to promoting job creation and youth empowerment through strategic partnerships.
“It is heartening to see development partners like GIZ SKYE working in tandem with the Lagos State Government to equip our young people with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s economy,” Olayinka stated.
“We deeply appreciate this collaboration and are optimistic that it will continue to yield positive outcomes.”
Speaking during the visit, Ms Svjetlana thanked the state government for its continued partnership and support. She reaffirmed GIZ SKYE’s dedication to fostering inclusive and sustainable employment through skills development and demand-driven training programmes.

“We are here today to reaffirm our readiness to work more closely with the Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure that more young people in Lagos have access to demand-driven training, decent jobs, and sustainable livelihoods,” she said.
The meeting also provided a platform to explore existing initiatives and identify new areas of cooperation aimed at reducing unemployment and improving socio-economic outcomes for Lagos youth.
