Nigerian music star Daniel Anidugbe, better known by his stage name Kizz Daniel, has revealed plans to retire from music.
In a series of posts on social media, the popular singer suggested he is preparing to exit the music scene, but not before dropping hundreds of unreleased tracks.
Kizz Daniel, who recently released an EP titled Lemon Chase, is already gearing up to release another project called Orange Chase. This back-to-back release strategy is part of a larger plan, he said, to share over 600 unreleased songs with his fans before calling it quits.
“I have over 600 songs to release”
The singer made the surprising revelation while interacting with fans on X (formerly Twitter). After unveiling the guest lineup for Orange Chase, one fan playfully commented, “VADO wan finish us with over feeding”, a lighthearted way of saying the artist is spoiling fans with too much music at once.
Kizz Daniel responded by confirming the fan’s suspicion. He wrote, “I have over 600 songs I want to dish out before I hang boot, so.” His use of the phrase “hang boot” is often used in Nigerian slang to mean retirement or stepping away from a profession.
Family comes first
In another post, the Buga crooner explained that he is stepping back from recording to spend more time with his family. He admitted that his dedication to music had affected his personal life, and it was time to make a change.
“No more recording for me… Just enjoying life like it should be,” he wrote. “My family don diss me say I choose studio over them, I’m changing.”
The message struck a chord with many fans, who praised him for prioritizing family. Others expressed concern that he might be leaving the industry too soon.
A busy year for the hitmaker
2025 has already been a busy year for Kizz Daniel. Just days ago, he dropped Lemon Chase, which received positive reactions from fans and music critics. The project featured a blend of upbeat tracks and soulful melodies, showing his range as both a singer and songwriter.
Now, with Orange Chase on the way, Kizz Daniel seems determined to give his fans a taste of what he has been keeping in the vault. Though he has not announced an official retirement date, his comments suggest that the end could be closer than many expected.
Fans react with mixed emotions
Reactions online have been mixed. Some fans are excited about the prospect of hearing hundreds of unreleased songs. Others are not ready to say goodbye.
“This guy has given us back-to-back hits for years,” one fan wrote. “But if it’s time for him to rest, he deserves it.”
Another said, “Kizz Daniel is one of the most consistent artists in Nigeria. I hope this retirement talk is not real.”
Not the first time
This isn’t the first time Kizz Daniel has hinted at taking a break. In the past, he has spoken about the pressures of fame and the demands of the music industry. However, this time feels different. His tone is more reflective, and his focus on family suggests a shift in priorities.
What’s next?
For now, fans can look forward to Orange Chase and possibly more EPs and albums as the artist works through his backlog of songs. Whether or not this is truly the end of his music journey remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Kizz Daniel wants to leave on his own terms.
Until then, the singer seems ready to balance music with life, love, and family.
