….Legend says ‘No Black Panther without me’
Hollywood hunk, Denzel Washington has said that he’s not done yet, declaring that before he finally calls it quits, ”I wanna do things I haven’t done.”
The renowned actor then talks up some of his ongoing projects, prominent among which is MCU’s Black Panther.
In a recent interview with Australia’s Today Show, the two-time Oscar winner shared his carefully curated project slate, including Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II and Ryan Coogler’s next Black Panther film.
When asked about potential pressure or trepidation, Washington expressed none, emphasizing his focus on collaborating with “the best” filmmakers at this stage in his career.
“For me, it’s about the filmmaker,” Washington stated. “I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m gonna make, probably not that many. I wanna do things I haven’t done.”
Washington, 69, hinted at eventual retirement after completing several lined-up projects, including; Two more takes on Othello, a film with Steve McQueen, a role in Ryan Coogler’s next Black Panther film, a film adaptation of King Lear.
Notably, Washington has a special connection to the late Chadwick Boseman, who credited Washington’s financial support early in his career as pivotal to his success, saying, “There would be no Black Panther without Denzel Washington.”
His latest project, Gladiator II, starring Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Joseph Quinn, will be on November 22.
