Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of five alleged kidnappers and the rescue of fourteen victims held captive in Achido village in the forest bothering Abuja and Kogi State.
The document shared with The New Daily Prime on November 5 noted that with the collaboration of Toto Division security operatives, five arrested suspects in connection to the evil activity have confessed to partake in the crime.
The suspects apprehended are Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Kasim. Mustapha Adamu and Abdul Mohammed.
According to the notice shared by the force spokesman, Ramhan Nansel, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the suspect confessed to be supplying food to the kidnappers in the forest.
Nansel stated, “Police operatives attached to Toto Division, in collaboration with community youths on 4/11/2024, burst a kidnappers hideout located at Achido village, a deeply forested terrain bordering FCT and Kogi state.”
The names of the rescued victims in Kuje FCT, Rubuchi area, and Tanshi village in Kuje Area Council, Abuja, include Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed, Auwal Tashai, Kabiru Iliya, Sabo Yakubu, Sagir Iliya, and Yunusa Danladi.
Hussaini Yakubu, Haruna Usman, Jibrin Bature, Isyaka Yakubu, Sule Bello, and Yusuf Yusuf, all males, were rescued from Lapai, Niger State.
Addressing this situation, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Umar Nadada, reaffirms his commitment to working together with the residents of the community with the aim to eradicate evil crime.
Also, he pleaded with the members of the public to report suspected movement notices around their neighbourhood to the security force.
