Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the race for the 2027 presidency after submitting his nomination form under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
In a post shared on his X account alongside photos and video footage of the submission, the former vice-president described his latest political move as part of a broader push to “restore prosperity and better days” for Nigeria.
He said the project goes beyond politics, framing it as a national effort anchored on renewal, hope, and collective action to address the country’s challenges.

Atiku also urged Nigerians across regions, religions, and political divides to support his ambition, stressing that his campaign is focused on rebuilding trust and reviving national progress.
This marks another attempt by the former vice-president to secure Nigeria’s top office, having previously contested multiple times and appeared on the presidential ballot in 2007, 2019, and 2023.
In the 2023 election, he came second with 6,984,520 votes, behind President Bola Tinubu, who polled 8,794,726 votes.
Bola Tinubu was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku’s political career spans over three decades, with presidential bids across different parties including the PDP, AC, APC, and earlier platforms dating back to 1993.
