Former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has justified his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), saying his decision is based on the need to find a more effective political platform to bring change to Nigeria.
This was revealed on Sunday, March 29, 2026 in a press statement announcing his exit from NNPP.
Kwankwaso said he took the decision after reviewing the current direction of the country’s political condition.
He stated that the situation requires what he described as “strategic realignment,” which informed his move to leave the party.
He explained that his resignation was not easy, but became necessary as he seeks a platform that can better address the challenges facing the nation.
According to him, he is looking for another political party that offers the best opportunity to “effectively change the nation.”
Kwankwaso’s decision suggested his commitment to national progress.
He maintained that the present political atmosphere demands new approaches and stronger alignment.
Kwankwaso made it clear that his resignation takes immediate effect, as he leaves for another platform he believes is more capable of achieving meaningful change.
