Kaduna State has been selected as the host of the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week, an annual flagship event of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Governor Uba Sani described the choice as both an honour and a responsibility.
Sani made this known while receiving members of the Governing Council of the NIPR, led by its President, Ike Neliaku, alongside officials of the Local Organising Committee, who formally presented the hosting flag to the state.

“Kaduna State’s selection as host of the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week is both a mark of distinction and a call to thoughtful stewardship,” the governor said. “We deeply appreciate the confidence reposed in us by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.”
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the state government and the NIPR to formalise the hosting arrangement.
Sani said the theme of the 2026 edition — ‘Food Security: From Policy Papers to Public Plates – The Public Relations Imperatives’ — aligns with his administration’s priorities.
“The theme captures a defining national challenge and resonates strongly with our determination to confront poverty, unemployment, and insecurity through resilient and inclusive food systems,” he noted.
According to him, the NIPR Governing Council outlined a comprehensive programme for the week, including the Institute’s Annual General Meeting, strategic media engagements, an executive roundtable on food security, fellowship inductions, capacity-building sessions, and guided project tours.
“With more than 2,000 participants expected from within Nigeria and beyond, the event will provide a platform for rigorous ideas, informed dialogue, and collective national reflection,” Sani said.
He explained that Kaduna’s selection followed a rigorous assessment process and reflects recognition of the state’s progress in crisis management, peace-building, inclusive infrastructure development, and economic renewal.
The governor reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to host the event, pledging full institutional support to ensure its success.
“We are fully prepared to host an event of the highest professional and organisational standards,” he said, while highlighting the state’s investments in agriculture and food security.
According to him, these investments include the Special Agro-Processing Zone, the Africa Quality Assurance Centre, a $200 million Mega Poultry Project, and the allocation of 11 per cent of the 2026 state budget to agriculture.
He added that these efforts have been bolstered by the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We acknowledge the steadfast backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose administration has shown exceptional commitment to agricultural transformation,” Sani said.
Sani also expressed appreciation for his appointment as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
“I am deeply honoured by this appointment and confident that the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week will set a new benchmark, delivering lasting value to participants, Kaduna State, and the nation,” he said.
