Popular media personality and founder of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has formally announced his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Hamzat made the declaration during a well-attended public event in Ibadan, marking a significant shift in his political involvement.
Known for his influential programsrammes and grassroots philanthropy, he has historically supported various political aspirants and mobilised support for candidates.
However, he emphasised that this cycle would be different, as he focuses entirely on his own ambition.
“I am publicly declaring today that in 2027, I will not campaign for anyone or mobilise crowds for anyone. I will contest in the gubernatorial election under the Accord Party,” Hamzat stated firmly.

The announcement signals his full commitment to pursuing the governorship seat, distancing himself from backing other politicians and positioning himself as a direct contender in what is expected to be a competitive race.
His entry into the Accord Party, often regarded as a grassroots-oriented alternative to the dominant All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, is seen as a strategic move to leverage his widespread popularity among ordinary citizens, particularly through his advocacy for social justice and community issues on Agidigbo FM.
