Nigerian lawmaker and businessman Senator Ned Nwoko has sparked fresh debate on social media after describing monogamy as an unbalanced way of life.
The politician, who is married to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, claimed that having only one wife is equivalent to “standing on one leg,” suggesting that polygamy offers greater stability for men.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television with Seun Okinbaloye on Sunday night, Nwoko said he pities men who have just one wife, insisting that his choice to marry multiple women is both natural and fulfilling.

“Just imagine telling you to stand on one leg; you know how difficult it is,” Nwoko said. “But it is much more balanced to stand on two, three, or four. I feel sorry for those with one wife. I don’t have any regrets, and I will do the same thing again.”
The Delta North senator defended his polygamous lifestyle as part of his personal values and cultural upbringing, emphasizing that it gives him balance and happiness.
His comments, however, come at a time when he is reportedly facing a marital crisis with his fourth wife, Regina Daniels, who is 39 years younger than him.
In a viral video that surfaced online last week, Regina Daniels accused her husband of domestic violence, alleging that their marriage had become unbearable due to constant mistreatment.
The clip sparked outrage and mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians calling for the actress’s safety.
In response, Nwoko denied the allegations, instead accusing Regina of substance abuse and claiming her actions had put a strain on their marriage.
The public exchange has fueled speculation that the couple’s relationship may have hit a breaking point.
Adding to the rumours, Regina Daniels posted a new photo on her Instagram page on Sunday evening, showing her standing on the balcony of what appeared to be a new residence. A cryptic caption accompanied the post:
“I needed a roof over my head.”
The image immediately triggered speculation among fans and bloggers that the actress had moved out of her marital home, possibly settling into a new house in Lagos State.
Although Regina has not directly confirmed the status of her marriage, the timing of the post has been widely interpreted as a subtle confirmation of her separation from the senator.

Ned Nwoko, known for his wealth, philanthropy, and controversial lifestyle, has long defended his belief in polygamy as a reflection of African tradition.
He has often argued that it helps reduce the number of unmarried women and prevents infidelity among men.
However, his latest remarks have reignited conversations about gender equality, modern marriage, and the place of polygamy in contemporary society.
As the public awaits official statements from both parties, the situation between Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels continues to dominate social media discussions, highlighting once again how the private lives of public figures often intersect with broader cultural debates in Nigeria.
