Afrobeats superstar Davido has achieved another major career milestone as he has been officially welcomed as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the prestigious organisation behind the GRAMMY Awards.
This recognition gives the ‘Feel’ hitmaker a place among the global community of music professionals who will play a direct role in deciding the nominees and winners for the 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
The Recording Academy announced Davido’s induction in an Instagram post on Tuesday, unveiling a video that also featured other new members, including American rapper Offset, singer Ravyn Lenae, Canadian artist Jessie Reyez, and country music group Zac Brown Band.
Accompanying the announcement was a caption stressing the importance of active member participation:
“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members, including #Davido, #ravynlenae, #offsetyrn, #jessiereyez, #zacbrownband, #anneakikomeyers, #miles.minnick, #mayaelizabethmusic, #damiensneed, #damarismusica, and #stewart_copeland are sharing why your participation matters.”
Reacting to the announcement, Davido expressed his excitement about being part of the process that shapes music’s most prestigious award ceremony.

“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process. It is a game-changer. I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting,” he said.
This development marks yet another significant step in Davido’s journey on the global music stage, following his three nominations at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards for his album Timeless and hit tracks from the project.
Davido’s inclusion is part of the Recording Academy’s ongoing efforts to diversify its voting membership, expanding its reach to reflect the international nature of today’s music industry.
In recent years, the Academy has launched several initiatives to represent better music professionals from Africa, Asia, and other parts of the world, acknowledging the growing influence of genres like Afrobeats on global music culture.
The Recording Academy further announced that voting for the 2026 GRAMMY Awards will officially commence on October 3, 2025, urging its members to “review the ballot, listen, and vote early.”
As a voting member, Davido will now have a direct hand in selecting nominees during the first-round voting process and in determining the winners during the final round, a responsibility that underscores his growing impact on the global music industry.
This milestone highlights Davido’s role as one of Afrobeats’ most prominent global ambassadors, solidifying the genre’s presence at music’s biggest stage.
