Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has defended the Federal Government’s (FG) efforts on road infrastructure in the state, urging residents to be patient and avoid discrediting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at the 2025 Udiroko Festival in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji addressed criticism over the poor condition of the Ado-Aramoko-Itawure road.
He stated that while the road’s condition is a concern, it is unfair to use it to judge the federal government’s commitment to Ekiti, as other significant road projects are already underway.

The governor highlighted that the FG has awarded contracts for the construction of the Ado-Ikere-Akure and Ado-Ijan-Iluomoba roads, which he said are currently in progress.
He added that the state government has also reconstructed the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki federal road to complement the federal projects.
“The President has supported us a lot, but it is not possible for him to solve all our problems in two years,” Oyebanji said.
He added that “Ekiti people are not ingrates, we reject that narrative and we say the President is supporting us.”
During the festival, Oyebanji also commended the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, for his efforts in fostering peace, unity, and cultural preservation.
He described the monarch as a “symbol of wisdom” and praised his leadership for bringing remarkable progress to the state capital.
“As I speak today, the construction of Ado-Ikere-Itaogbolu-Akure road is ongoing, also the Ado-Ijan-Iluomoba road has been awarded, while the state has also completed the reconstruction of the Ado- Iworoko- Ifaki federal road to complement the efforts of the federal government.
“It is unfair for any Ekiti indigene to use the condition of Aramoko-Itawure road to measure this government. Ekiti People are not ingrates, we reject that narrative and we say the President is supporting us and Ekiti people are in support of the President”, he added.
