Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has extended his profound gratitude to all residents who participated in the local government elections held on Saturday.
He commended their orderly conduct and significant turnout at polling units across the state.

In a statement posted on his X page praised Lagosians for demonstrating what he described as ‘the true spirit of Lagos, a State built on participation, progress, and people-centred governance.’
He specifically lauded youths, elders, market women, artisans, and professionals for exercising their voting rights with dignity and respect for due process.
“You have shown that democracy will continue to shape leadership when the people actively participate in elections,” the governor stated.
He added that the peaceful exercise reaffirmed Lagos’s status as the ‘Centre of Excellence.’
Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged the crucial roles played by security agencies, the media, and electoral officials, thanking them for their ‘professionalism, dedication, and commitment to ensuring a safe and credible process’ that contributed to the day’s success.
As the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) prepares to announce the official results, Sanwo-Olu urged all candidates and political stakeholders to ‘remain calm, respectful, and law-abiding.’

He emphasised that the elections represent ‘another bold step in strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots.’
