Popular Nigerian comedian, Destalker, has confirmed that his marriage has ended after three years.
Known for keeping his private life away from public attention, the comedian shared details about his divorce during a recent interview with content creator Timi Agbaje.
While speaking candidly, Destalker revealed that he is now divorced and emphasised that despite the end of his marriage, he remains content with his life.
“I am happy, I have a happy home. I was married, but not anymore. Marriage is not a criterion for a happy home,” he said.
The comedian made it clear that happiness, in his view, does not depend on being married. He noted that even though his marriage has ended, his sense of peace and joy remains intact.
Why the marriage failed
When asked why the union collapsed, Destalker attributed the breakup to “irreconcilable differences.” He explained that he and his former partner were not able to find common ground, which eventually led to their separation.
“I was married for three years. I dated the person for six months before getting married,” he said.
He also reflected on the differences in how men and women approach relationships. Destalker suggested that men have more flexibility when it comes to moving on after a failed marriage.
“That’s the difference between a man and a woman. I can decide to remarry next week, Friday or Saturday. But a woman can’t. It’s a man’s decision for marriage,” he added.
His statement has sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his views and others calling them controversial and one-sided.
No interest in new relationship
For now, Destalker says he is not interested in pursuing another romantic relationship. He made it clear that love is not a priority for him at the moment. According to him, he’s more focused on himself and his personal growth.
“I’m not interested in love right now,” he said firmly.
His comments reflect a growing number of public figures who choose to prioritise self-care and personal peace over societal expectations like marriage or romantic relationships.
Marriage benefits women more than men, he claims
In the same interview, Destalker stirred even more debate when he claimed that marriage favours women more than men. Without going into deep explanation, he argued that the institution of marriage tends to work better in the interest of women.
This remark has raised eyebrows among fans and viewers, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts. Some supported his perspective, noting how men are often burdened with financial and social expectations in marriages. Others criticised the statement, saying it promotes a biased narrative that ignores the shared responsibilities in healthy relationships.
Keeping his personal life private
Throughout his career, Destalker has been known for keeping his personal life out of the spotlight. Unlike many celebrities who share every detail of their lives online, he has maintained a clear boundary between his public persona and his private affairs. The recent interview marks one of the rare times he has spoken openly about his personal journey.
Public reaction and commentary
Following the release of the interview, fans and followers have expressed mixed feelings. While some praised the comedian for being honest and open, others questioned the ideas he shared, particularly his views on gender roles in relationships.
Still, many appreciate his courage to speak on a topic that is often surrounded by shame and silence. For some, Destalker’s experience is a reminder that marriage is not the only path to happiness.
Final thoughts
Destalker’s story adds to the growing conversation about modern relationships, expectations, and personal happiness. In a society where marriage is often seen as a benchmark of success, his message is clear: peace of mind and happiness should come first, married or not.
