The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has renewed its commitment to improving the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria through an enhanced partnership with SUNTECH, a leading provider of prosthetics and orthotics in the country.
This renewed collaboration aims to increase the local production and accessibility of assistive devices, which will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life and independence for thousands of Nigerians living with disabilities.
The renewed partnership was formalized during a meeting in Abuja, where Chief Gufwan, Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, visited SUNTECH’s state-of-the-art fabrication centre.
The facility is designed to produce high-quality prosthetic and orthotic solutions for amputees and individuals born with deformities, empowering them to regain mobility and self-sufficiency.
Speaking at the event, Gufwan lauded the innovation at SUNTECH and expressed optimism about the positive impact the partnership will have on PWDs across Nigeria.

During the tour, Gufwan had the opportunity to interact with several patients, who shared positive testimonials about the care and support they had received at SUNTECH. Their stories underscored the importance of accessible and affordable assistive devices in helping individuals with disabilities live more independent and fulfilling lives.
In his speech, Gufwan reaffirmed NCPWD’s broader mission to celebrate Nigeria’s “living legends” and veterans with disabilities, acknowledging their significant contributions to the nation’s progress.
He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to empowering PWDs and ensuring they receive the respect and opportunities they deserve.
