Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving rural-urban road networks, especially those connecting farming communities to urban markets, if re-elected.
The governor stated that this initiative would ease the transportation of agricultural products, strengthening the state’s agricultural sector.
He further promised to expand these projects and prioritize rural development if he wins the election.
Governor Aiyedatiwa made these remarks during his campaign visits to several communities in Akure, including Iju, Itaogbolu, Igoba, Ogbese, Ilu-Abo, Oba-Ile, and Igbatoro.
He acknowledged the essential role local peace plays in the state’s overall stability, noting that the tranquillity currently enjoyed in Ondo is a result of sustained peace across various local governments.
Emphasising that the safety and security of residents, particularly farmers, remain a core focus of his administration, the governor highlighted ongoing developmental efforts in these areas.
The campaign train then proceeded to a gathering with party supporters in Itaogbolu, where Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s steadfast support.
A carnival-like atmosphere greeted the governor in Iju, where he addressed an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, underscoring the unity and shared vision that resonated throughout the state.
“Your unwavering support and desire for the continuation of our administration’s good work echo everywhere we go, We have achieved so much together, and I am committed to doing even more for the development of our beloved state if given another mandate”, he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed a large, enthusiastic crowd at Igoba, thanking supporters for coming out in numbers and urging them to demonstrate their support with votes on November 16.
He assured the people that, with the rainy season ending, contractors would soon resume active work to complete all ongoing road projects throughout the state.
At Ogbese, Governor Aiyedatiwa encouraged supporters to make their votes count by choosing the APC, stressing that voting for any other party would mean a lost opportunity.
During the event, hundreds of Social Democratic Party (SDP) members officially defected to the APC, adding momentum to the campaign.
The governor also visited the palace of the Olu of Ilu-Abo, Oba Olu Falae, where the elder statesman offered prayers for the governor’s success in the upcoming election.
Oba Falae declared that November 16 should be all about Aiyedatiwa, insisting that every vote in Ilu-Abo must go to the APC candidate. He also urged the governor to keep his promises to the community.
At Imafon and Igbatoro, the Governor expressed gratitude to residents for their patience and promised that their road would be included in the second phase of the RAAMP road reconstruction initiative.
The governor began his stakeholder engagement at the palace of the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, where the monarch offered his royal blessings and voiced support for Aiyedatiwa’s election bid.
In welcoming the governor, Oba Faborode pledged the council area’s loyalty and promised to rally the community behind the governor’s administration. However, he also called for more infrastructural projects, with a particular focus on road rehabilitation and other critical amenities.
