The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Nyesom Wike has commenced the screening of aspirants seeking presidential, governorship, and national assembly tickets ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja, the party said the exercise is being coordinated by the national working committee (NWC) led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The statement was signed by Chinwe Nnorom on behalf of Jungudo Mohammed.
According to the party, governorship aspirants were scheduled for screening at noon on Thursday at Legacy House, the PDP national secretariat annex in Maitama, Abuja, while presidential aspirants were expected to appear before the panel by 2 pm at the same venue.
The PDP disclosed that the presidential screening committee is chaired by former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, while Hassan Sokodobo serves as secretary.
Other members of the committee include former senators George Sekibo and Zainab Kure, alongside other party stakeholders.

For the governorship screening panel, the party named former Kaduna governor Ahmed Makarfi as chairman, with George Ariolu serving as secretary.
Other members include Ibrahim Umar, Aisha Madawaki, and Tajudeen Yusuf.
Meanwhile, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan announced that she had completed the PDP screening process ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking after the exercise in Lokoja, the senator said she appeared before the panel with all the required credentials and supporting documents.
“I am pleased to have completed the screening exercise as part of the process ahead of the party primaries for the 2027 Kogi Central Senatorial Election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan described the exercise as part of her commitment to effective representation and service to the people.
Also reacting, Muhammed Abdullahi, popularly known as “Elephant,” said he had been screened and cleared to participate in the PDP primary election for the Kogi East senatorial district.
“I came fully prepared with all the required credentials and supporting documents, and I am pleased to announce that I have been officially screened and cleared to participate in the forthcoming PDP primary election for the Kogi East Senatorial District,” he said.
In Cross River State, the PDP said 45 aspirants vying for national and state assembly tickets were screened ahead of the party’s May 21 primaries.
The exercise was conducted by a five-man committee led by Fred Osim.
Among those screened was Alex Egbona, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP.
Meanwhile, the PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki announced that it has entered into an alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement.
Speaking with TheCable, Ini Ememobong said the alliance emerged from the All Opposition Political Party Leaders summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in April.
