Controversial Nigerian street-pop singer Portable has survived a lone accident just hours before the naming ceremony of his newborn baby in Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night while the singer was making preparations for the event.

According to Portable, the accident occurred when the brakes on his vehicle suddenly failed while he was driving.
Sharing details of the incident in a video posted on his Instagram story, the singer explained that he was forced to drive into a ditch to avoid crashing into another vehicle on the road.
“My fans, join me to appreciate God. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened,” he said.
Portable expressed gratitude for surviving the crash unhurt, revealing that the situation could have ended tragically if a trailer had been passing at the time.
“Nothing do me oo, I came out unhurt. I suddenly realized that the car had failed brake,” he stated.
The singer added that people had already gathered at the accident scene shortly after the incident occurred.
“My people have arrived here at the scene of the incident. I thank God they are not here to carry my corpse,” he added emotionally.
Portable further disclosed that he had already made extensive preparations for his child’s naming ceremony before the accident happened, including purchasing two cows for the celebration.
“I’ve already bought two cows for my son’s naming ceremony. Thank God that the accident didn’t happen when the trailer was passing on the road,” he said.
The accident comes just days after the singer welcomed a newborn baby with his wife, Bewaji. The birth reportedly took place during Portable’s celebrity boxing bout with streamer Carter Efe on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Ahead of the naming ceremony, Portable had already generated buzz online after distributing free Ankara aso ebi materials to fans and associates as part of the celebration plans.
Known for his dramatic lifestyle and controversial public persona, Portable has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about entertainers in recent years.
