He made this known in a statement shared on his Facebook handle on Sunday, explaining why he declined the invitation.
Sowore said he was invited to the “Opposition Summit” but chose not to take part.
He claimed that many of the politicians involved in such a gathering had been in power before and failed to deliver results for Nigerians.

These same figures, according to Sowore, cannot now present themselves as agents of change.

“There is no need to pretend that the same men (and a few women) who held Nigeria to ransom for years… can suddenly reinvent themselves as champions of progress,” he said.
He noted that Nigerians are aware of past failures and should not be misled.
“Not all Nigerians are suffering from amnesia,” he stated, warning against what he said was deception in the name of opposition politics.
Sowore also made it clear that his party, the African Action Congress (AAC), would not join any alliance that seeks to bring together politicians he believes have contributed to the country’s problems.
He considered such efforts as a “charade designed to recycle failed political actors.”
Instead, he said the AAC is focused on building a different kind of political movement.
He explained that the party aims to provide a people-driven alternative based on honesty, accountability, and real change.
He also criticised major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and others such as the Labour Party and ADC.
He said they are part of a system that has not served Nigerians well.
“We will mobilize Nigerians across the country to rally behind a credible vision that rejects the decadence and deception represented by both the APC and their opportunistic counterparts,” Sowore said.
He insisted that Nigeria needs a complete “break” from its political past, not a reshuffling of familiar faces.
