Speaking with journalists in Lagos, the governor said his re-election plan would be guided strictly by the will of the people. He noted that leadership must remain accountable but not driven by force or desperation.
Kefas explained that he is ready to accept the verdict of voters, even if it goes against him. According to him, public feedback will shape his decision, and that he would rather return home than allow conflict among supporters.
He said, “If the people say no, I will go peacefully.”
He stressed that human lives must come before political ambition.

The governor also said he is open to criticism and willing to improve where necessary. He noted that if given another chance, he would address areas where citizens feel he has not done enough.
Reflecting on his political journey, Kefas recalled stepping down during the 2019 governorship contest, a decision he said later worked in his favour.
He added that patience, timing, and alignment with the right people played key roles in his emergence as governor.
On governance, he said his administration is focused on leaving a lasting impact.
He disclosed that one of the major issues he met in office was the absence of a clear development plan for the state.
According to him, Taraba has rich natural and agricultural resources, but poor planning has slowed growth.
To fix this, he said, his government developed a comprehensive master plan covering all local government areas.
Kefas added that his goal is to position the state for long-term development, even beyond his tenure.
He also spoke on his recent move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the decision was taken in the interest of Taraba’s progress. He called for unity and urged political actors to focus on building a better future.
The governor maintained that his priority is to deliver results and build a legacy, not just to remain in office.
