Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has revealed that her colleague, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, played a crucial role in helping her when she received death threats from her ex-husband.
The actress made the revelation during a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she opened up about the ordeal she faced after speaking about domestic abuse in a past relationship.

According to Etinosa, the threats began after she casually mentioned during an interview for the film Stormy Heart that one of her relationships “nearly killed” her. She said the media house focused on her comments about her marriage rather than the movie itself, which led to backlash and reactions from her ex-husband.
Narrating the incident, she said:
“I went for an interview for a film, Stormy Heart. At that time, I was very green. I didn’t know how to avoid certain questions or divert them. I was just being honest. They asked about love or relationships and I said one relationship nearly killed me. I mentioned it carelessly and the person was my ex-husband.
“The media house left everything I said about the film and crafted the story around my marriage. Even I was shocked. Nobody knew about those things before then. My ex-husband called me and said I was doing an interview on his head and trying to ruin his career. He demanded that I come out to say I spoke out of bitterness. I asked him if I should put myself under the bus for him.”
Etinosa said the situation escalated when the threats became more intense, forcing her to cry out on social media.
“When the threats were getting too much, I cried out on Instagram. A few people reached out to me. But I clearly remember Mercy Johnson reaching out because she has a strong military background. She said she would forward the case to the Chief of Naval Staff. To cut the story short, someone from Abuja reached out to me and told me they were now on the case and that the person would not bother me anymore.”
New Daily Prime reports that Etinosa was first married to a military officer, Babatunde Solomon, with the union ending between 2017 and 2018.
Her second marriage to Ighorosa, a Benin-based lawyer, also ended in 2021, after they welcomed their first child.
