The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has levelled accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, claiming it is imposing restrictions on opposition billboards ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement released on Friday by state chairman Tajudeen Lawal, the APC alleged that the government directed the Osun Signage and Advertisement Agency (O’ Signage) to withhold approvals for APC campaign billboards in key areas of Osogbo, the state capital.

Specifically, the directive reportedly targets the corridor from Akoda to Osogbo City Stadium, aiming to limit visibility for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Lawal described the move as a “misuse of incumbency power” and an “oppressive, unlawful” attempt to stifle opposition activities, creating an uneven playing field.
He further claimed the agency was instructed to identify billboard owners across Osogbo and offer compensation for up to three years, a step the APC labelled as unusual and politically motivated.
The chairman argued that such actions contradict democratic principles and the right of parties to campaign freely. He cited national regulations under the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), asserting that the alleged directive violates guidelines on political communication.

“We want to put all statutory security agencies on notice, including the Police, the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to be aware of this development,” Lawal stated.
The APC urged the Adeleke administration to reverse the policy and ensure equal opportunities for all parties. It vowed to resist the restrictions through lawful channels while continuing preparations for the election, insisting that Oyebamiji’s campaign would proceed unhindered.
