Music streaming giant Spotify has released its list of the top 30 Nigerian songs with the highest global streams for the first half of 2025.
The data highlights songs by Nigerian artists and collaborations featuring them that gained the most traction outside Nigeria.
Leading the pack is Rema, whose hit single Baby (Is It A Crime) claimed the number one spot. The song, praised for its smooth vocals and catchy rhythm, has become a global sensation, dominating charts in countries like the U.S., the U.K., and South Africa.
In second place is Shallipopi’s Laho, a street-hop anthem that has gone viral across platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The track’s relatable lyrics and bouncy beat have made it a favourite among younger audiences.
Davido’s ‘With You’ featuring Omah Lay makes list
Davido follows closely in third place with With You, a heartfelt collaboration featuring Omah Lay. The song is one of nine tracks from Davido’s latest album 5ive, that made it onto the top 30 list. This strong showing confirms Davido’s continued dominance in the Afrobeats scene and his growing international reach.
Rounding out the top five are My Darling by Chella at number four and Tatata by Burna Boy featuring American rapper Travis Scott at number five. These songs have received strong airplay and streaming numbers in both Africa and North America.
The rest of the top 10 includes Zazaza by Frenna and Shallipopi, We Pray by Coldplay featuring Burna Boy, Burna Boy’s solo track Update, Shallipopi’s Laho II featuring Burna Boy, and Davido’s emotional ballad Be There Still.
Burna Boy appears five times on the list, making him the second most featured artist after Davido. His ability to cross genres and connect with diverse audiences continues to boost his global appeal.
Shallipopi also makes a notable impact with several entries, showing that his rise in 2025 is no fluke. His blend of street-inspired lyrics and modern Afrobeats sound has quickly won him fans at home and abroad.
The Spotify ranking also reflects the increasing popularity of international collaborations. Songs like We Pray show how Nigerian artists are working with global stars to push Afrobeats to new heights.
Spotify reported a surge in streams of Nigerian music outside the continent, especially in the U.S., U.K., and France. With Nigerian artists now a regular presence on global playlists and charts, the country’s music industry continues to expand its reach worldwide.
