Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have been warned about a suspected fraud scheme where unknown persons are collecting personal and bank details from party members ahead of party primaries.
The warning was issued in a press statement released on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Concerned stakeholders in the district said the scheme targets APC members by asking for private information under the promise of giving money.
The party explained that those behind the move requested details such as full name, phone number, membership card information, bank account number and bank name.

The stakeholders said such a request is unsafe and unusual. They noted that it exposes members to identity theft and financial fraud.
As said in the statement, the request “is highly irregular, suspicious and poses significant risks of identity theft, financial fraud and unauthorised use of membership data.”
It was stressed that official party programmes do not operate in such a loose manner.
The party noted that real empowerment efforts follow clear party channels and would not ask members to submit sensitive details without proper structure.
The statement also related the development to the ongoing political activities in the area. It said the timing raises concern because party primaries are close.
The stakeholders claimed that a certain individual, who has stayed away from grassroots party work for years, is now reaching out with offers of cash.
They stated that the move appears to be an attempt to gain support through financial influence.
In their words, it is “a calculated attempt to exploit the loyalty of our members” and weaken the party’s internal process.
Members were advised to stay alert and avoid sharing personal details with unknown persons.
They were also warned not to accept money that could affect their judgement or loyalty to the party.
Anyone who comes across such requests were urged to report immediately to party leaders or security agencies.
It was added that party strength depends on discipline and unity among members.
The party demanded that members be careful, urging them to stand up for integrity.
