Citing lawlessness and impunity,the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has warned against assaults on police personnel, declaring that such actions will no longer be tolerated.
Speaking during his visit to the Enugu State Command yesterday ,Egbetokun emphasised that attacks on officers were not only criminal but also an affront to the entire institution of the Nigeria Police Force.
He assured that any such incident would be met with a decisive and collective response to ensure justice is served.

Egbetokun directed officers to respond decisively to any violence against their colleagues, stressing the need for collective action to protect the integrity of the force.
He added, “Wherever a policeman is attacked or killed, the response must be swift, appropriate, and unified. We will ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.”

He also assured the officers that the force was collaborating with the federal government to enhance their welfare, addressing concerns about the well-being of personnel.
While commending the Enugu State Police Command for its professionalism, he expressed concerns over the actions of a few rogue elements tarnishing the image of the force.
He encouraged officers to remain steadfast and committed to their duties.
Egbetokun’s remarks come amid growing concerns about the safety of law enforcement personnel across the country.
