Barcelona sealed their second straight Spanish league title after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in an exciting El Clasico at Camp Nou.
The victory pushed Hansi Flick’s team 14 points clear with three matches left. This win confirmed Barcelona’s 29th La Liga crown.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the first half. He curled a brilliant free-kick into the top corner from 20 yards. Then Ferran Torres doubled the lead minutes later. He finished smartly after Dani Olmo’s clever backheel assist. The two goals came inside the first 18 minutes and set a strong tone for the hosts.
Meanwhile, a minute’s silence honored Flick’s father before the match. Players wore black armbands throughout the game. Real Madrid could not fight back despite late pressure. Thibaut Courtois made key saves, and officials ruled out a Jude Bellingham goal for offside.
Flick showed great strength on the touchline. He learned about his father’s death that morning.

“This morning, my mum called me and she said that my father passed away,” Flick explained. “I thought about whether I should hide it or speak with my team. For me it is like a family, so I shared the news with the players. What they did was unbelievable. I will never forget this moment.”
Marcus Rashford, who scored the first goal, praised his manager.
“He showed his character to stay here with the team in a very difficult moment,” Rashford said. “It was very important that we gave 100% on the pitch. I wish him and his family well.”
After the match, an emotional Flick spoke to the crowd.
“It was a tough match and I will never forget this day,” he said. “I want to thank the squad and all the fans. The most important thing is that I am very proud to have such a good team. Now I think we need to celebrate.”
Barcelona announced the sad news shortly before kick-off. Real Madrid also sent their condolences.
Flick has now won five trophies with Barcelona since he replaced Xavi in May 2024. His team dominated the 2025/26 La Liga season. After 35 matches, they recorded 30 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses. They scored 91 goals and conceded 31 for a +60 goal difference and 91 points.
In the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona reached the quarter-finals before Atlético Madrid eliminated them.
The win marked only the second time in history that a La Liga title was decided directly in an El Clasico. Fans and players now look forward to more celebrations.
