Ambassador Designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has argued that the smooth relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly is a strong reason Nigerians should return him to office in 2027.
Omokri in a statement shared on Facebook on Monday said the current administration stands out from past governments because it has avoided the long history of conflict between the executive and legislative arms.
This calm working relationship shows what he described as Tinubu’s strength in political strategy.
Omokri compared the present situation with previous administrations. Under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, there were, according to him, repeated clashes with Senate Presidents and House Speakers.

He said, “President Obasanjo, a great Nigerian leader, had five Senate Presidents and fought with all of them. His tenure also witnessed three Speakers and fought with two of them, Ghali Na’Abba and Aminu Bello Masari.”
He also noted that Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had disagreements with lawmakers, especially during his illness, while Goodluck Jonathan faced a hostile House after political defections shifted power.
Omokri revealed that during Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, tensions with the Senate leadership further highlighted the pattern of conflict.
He claimed that since May 29, 2023, there has been no major dispute between President Tinubu and either chamber of the National Assembly.
Instead, he described the relationship as peaceful and cooperative, saying it has helped lawmakers in their duties.
Omokri stated, “There has been peace, tranquillity, and symmetry, which has made the 10th Senate as well as the House of Representatives the most productive and effective since 1999.”
He claimed that this cooperation has allowed the government to pass key legislation, including the 2025 tax reform bills and amendments to the Electoral Act.
In his view, such progress would have been difficult in an atmosphere of conflict.
Based on this, Omokri argued that maintaining stability across the three arms of government is important for Nigeria’s future.
He then warned against disrupting what he sees as a working system.
For him, re-electing Tinubu in 2027 is “a task that must be done” to sustain the current level of coordination and avoid a return to political tension.
His views may cause arguments, especially among critics who may question whether harmony between arms of government always leads to better accountability.
