The controversy began after Nkechi commented “La Funky” under Funke Akindele’s post. The remark drew backlash from some social media users, who accused her of siding with Funke against Toyin, who is widely believed to be her friend.

However, responding to the criticism, Nkechi explained that she made the comment about 24 hours before the disagreement between Funke and Toyin became public. According to her, the comment had nothing to do with the ongoing drama.
“I dropped a comment 24 hours before the whole drama started,” she wrote.
Furthermore, she criticised those attacking her online, accusing them of jumping to conclusions without first checking the timeline of events. She described some of the critics as “jobless” and “stagnant” for assuming she was throwing shade at Toyin.
Nkechi insisted that her comment was innocent and unrelated to the reported fallout between the two actresses.
In addition, she expressed frustration with fans who she believes enjoy creating conflict among celebrities. According to her, some people deliberately try to pitch public figures against one another rather than promote peace.
“As peace is not sweet for some of you,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, the situation comes amid growing attention on the reported tension between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following a viral video from the premiere of a film by Iyabo Ojo.
Overall, Nkechi Blessing Sunday maintained that she was unfairly criticised and that her comment should not be interpreted as taking sides in the dispute.
