The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the suspension of four senior officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a significant development amid the party’s ongoing internal leadership crisis.
The affected officials are the former National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; the National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mohammed Abdulrahman; the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); and the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature.

In its ruling, the appellate court affirmed the earlier judgement delivered by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The suspensions, originally imposed by the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) in November 2025, stemmed from allegations of anti-party activities and constitutional violations, particularly linked to factional disputes and efforts surrounding the party’s controversial national convention.
The Court of Appeal’s decision reinforces the validity of the lower court’s findings and the disciplinary measures taken against the officials, who have ceased to function in their respective roles pending further party processes.

This ruling comes against the backdrop of prolonged turmoil within the PDP, including competing factions, court interventions halting or validating party conventions, and disputes over leadership positions.
The decision is likely to have implications for the party’s internal reconciliation efforts and its preparations ahead of future electoral cycles.
