Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 01, Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, have announced the indefinite suspension of a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, over alleged misconduct and actions said to be detrimental to party unity at the ward level.
The decision was conveyed in a letter dated Thursday, January 29, 2026, and addressed to the Osun State Chairman of the APC, Tajudeen Lawal. According to ward officials, the suspension followed a meeting of ward executives, leaders, and members, during which several issues allegedly affecting cohesion and internal harmony within the ward were discussed in detail.
The letter, jointly signed by 18 ward executives and five ward leaders, accused Oyintiloye of unauthorised appropriation of an Executive Assistant (EA) slot and funds amounting to ₦5.6 million. The signatories claimed that the funds were originally allocated for ward leaders, alleging that Oyintiloye had already secured a personal EA slot through a third party while holding a federal appointment.
The ward officials further alleged that the former lawmaker engaged in activities that could cause division within the party at the grassroots level. These allegedly included organising parallel meetings, which they said undermined recognised party structures and leadership within the ward.
In addition, Oyintiloye was accused of prolonged absence from ward meetings and political activities for more than three years. The letter also claimed that despite benefiting from several political appointments over time, he had failed to make any meaningful financial or material contributions to ward activities.
“In view of the foregoing and his consistent lack of engagement and contributions to ward affairs, it has become necessary to take decisive disciplinary action,” the letter stated.
The ward leaders consequently declared that “Hon. Bosun Oyintiloye is hereby suspended indefinitely from Ward One, Ibokun, and shall cease to represent the interests of the ward at any level.”
However, the officials noted that they remained open to intervention from higher party authorities, emphasising that their overriding concern was the APC’s unity, stability and electoral success in future contests.
Reacting to the development in a telephone interview, Oyintiloye dismissed the suspension as invalid and described it as the work of disgruntled, previously suspended party members. He claimed that those who signed the letter were not recognised party executives and alleged that they were acting in the interest of opposition elements within the state.
Oyintiloye denied all allegations levelled against him, insisting that he neither controlled any EA slot nor had access to the ₦5.6 million referenced in the letter. He further questioned the process’s legitimacy, arguing that any disciplinary action should follow established party procedures.
“If they truly have the power to suspend me, why can’t they do so through the proper party executive channels before going to the press?” he asked.
Describing the action as “a joke of the century,” Oyintiloye maintained that he remained a loyal and respected member of the APC and urged members of the public to disregard what he termed a purported suspension.
