The promising forward represents the Seagulls’ first acquisition of the summer, a crucial move as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, which includes a highly anticipated run in the UEFA Conference League.
Yohanna’s path to the Premier League has been swift and impressive. After showcasing his clinical finishing with nine goals in 12 appearances for the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna, the youngster transitioned to Swedish football just over a year ago.
His rapid development caught the eye of Brighton’s scouting network, which ultimately orchestrated his high-profile move to England.
Hürzeler, who has closely monitored the teenager’s progress, emphasized the unique qualities that motivated the club to secure his signature. “I’m looking forward to working with Zadok,” the German manager told BBC Sport. “Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player who can impact games in the final third.”
Despite the excitement surrounding the teenager’s arrival, the manager cautioned that patience remains vital. “He’s still young and will need time to adapt to the club and the Premier League, but he’s an exciting player to watch, and he brings the kind of creativity we know our fans will enjoy,” Hürzeler added.
As Yohanna prepares to link up with his new teammates for pre-season training next month, he follows in the footsteps of previous Nigerian talents who have graced the Brighton squad, such as Leon Balogun and Sam Adekugbe, who once featured for the club.
The youngster remains unfazed by the step up to top-tier English football. Reflecting on his initial conversations with his new manager, the 18-year-old revealed that Hürzeler’s message was one of discipline and dedication.
“He urged me to keep fighting and working hard,” Yohanna told the club’s website. “I will give everything I have, and I really want to win trophies with the team.”
