Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to unveil two major empowerment and educational initiatives on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The launch, which will take place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, is the centerpiece of the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026 High-Level Policy Engagement.
The summit is a collaborative effort between the Office of the Vice President, the Sterling One Foundation, the United Nations System, and various international partners.

Under the theme “Scaling Action – Driving Inclusive Growth through Policy and Innovation,” he will unveil two flagship platforms aimed at addressing deep-seated social challenges.
The first, the Nigeria Foundational Learning Fund, developed in partnership with the Business Coalition for Education (BCE), seeks to significantly improve literacy and numeracy rates nationwide.
It targets the pressing issue of out-of-school children, ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to a strong academic foundation.
The second, Women and Youth Financial and Economic Inclusion (WYFEI) Nigeria, marks a historic milestone, making Nigeria the first country to implement the African Union’s WYFEI programme.
The platform will employ co-investment frameworks and performance accountability measures to promote economic independence for women and young people.
Shettima emphasised that these initiatives are not just about aid, but about strategic mobilization.
“Nigeria’s future prosperity depends on how effectively we mobilise the private sector, development partners, and public institutions around shared national priorities,” he stated.
“This engagement marks a critical step toward delivery-driven partnerships that unlock the full potential of our women and youth.”
The event will also witness the signing of the WYFEI Nigeria Declaration, a formal commitment by government leaders, CEOs, and development partners to coordinate actions that harness Nigeria’s “demographic dividend.”

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO of the Sterling One Foundation, noted that the 2026 summit represents a “pivotal shift” from mere discussion to national execution. By aligning policy with financing and innovation, the summit seeks to deliver measurable impact for millions of Nigerians.
The high-level gathering will host over 200 senior leaders, including members of the diplomatic community, private sector giants, and civil society organizations, all converging to foster a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
